Overview

BioBright, a Dotmatics company, is creating the smart laboratory of the future driven by the move to data-centric research. Our solutions enable scientists to automate the collection of data from in-house and externally networked sources, and then standardize and analyze that data with validation and integrity checks built in.

We’re building tools that let scientists securely gather and analyze millions of biological datasets and make it all computable. We work with cloud-based data storage, data analytics, computer vision, voice control technology, sensors, and research equipment integrations, enabling organizations to capture and analyze their data up to 65x faster. We empower human researchers at the cutting edge of science. In partnership with leading companies, we facilitate better research and faster development of life-saving therapies.

We are a friendly, diverse group of people sitting at the intersection of biology, medicine, cybersecurity, and computer science, and we’re looking for people who think differently and want to make a dent in important challenges.

The role: Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting digital biosecurity information from a variety of sources, including open source, closed source, instrument intelligence, biomanufacturing facility information, and threat intelligence from private and public partners. Also responsible for communicating results to BioBright management and its public sector partners. There will also be opportunities to assist technical staff in reverse engineering and security-focused software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Collect threat intelligence on BioBright partner public and private institutions from open sources and – if applicable – closed sources
  • Analyze collected data to provide actionable intelligence to BioBright leadership and public and private partners
  • Write reports on digital biosecurity concepts and work product for circulation

  • Support and co-lead projects with BioBright leadership on engagements with BioBright public and private partners in the digital biosecurity domain
  • (optional) Assist BioBright technical staff responsible for reverse engineering file formats and software for digital biosecurity applications by collecting open-source information and materials

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in medicine, biopharma, or a related field with 3+ years of opensource intelligence (OSINT) and/or threat intelligence experience
  • Extensive experience with medical or biomedical devices, including threat modelling in real environments (eg. hospitals, laboratories, etc.)
  • Some knowledge of reverse engineering frameworks and malware activity in biomedical settings

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to accomplish high-level research with minimal direction in lowinformation settings; you will often become the team expert in a particular subfield or site-specific workflow on the basis of your research
  • Excitement to learn and synthesize a wide breadth of knowledge
  • Strong communication and education skills; you will be interfacing with stakeholders at varied levels of expertise and will often be tasked with teaching concepts in addition to reporting findings
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response

This role will be based in our Boston office (with flexible working) after government guidance suggests a safe to return to office work. Until that time, this is a remote role.
